On 06 July 2017, Cunard Line's Queen Elizabeth passed the Royal Navy’s HMS Queen Elizabeth aircraft carrier in the Moray Firth, off the coast of Scotland.
The luxury cruise ship, Queen Elizabeth was on a 13-night cruise around the British Isle when it passed HMS Queen Elizabeth. Both vessel were christened by Her Majesty The Queen.

Cunard Line’s 2,014-passenger Queen Victoria is to undergo an extensive month long refurbishment, which will see new balcony staterooms added to the stern and upgrades to the current venues on board.
The planned refurbishment follows on from the success of the ‘remastering’ of Cunard Line’s flagship, Queen Mary 2, which took place in 2016. The ‘remastering’ of Queen Victoria will see a total of £34 million spent upgrading the refurbishing the ship. Cunard Line has announced that its 2,092-passenger cruise ship, Queen Elizabeth will spend two months in Australia in 2019.
Queen Elizabeth will offer a total of seven cruises from Sydney and Melbourne. It will be the first time that Cunard Line have based one of its ships in Australia.
Cunard Line’s magnificent flagship Queen Mary 2 and Queen Elizabeth visited Sydney in Australia on 25 February 2017 for a Royal Rendezouz.
Both of the ships were on their Cunard World Voyages. They visited Sydney some ten years after Queen Mary 2’s first visit to the city in 2007. Cunard Line’s 90,049 gross tonne Queen Victoria has become the largest cruise ship to sail 900 miles up the Amazon River, before docking at Manaus.
The 2,014-passenger cruise ship is currently on a 120-night World Voyage round-trip from Southampton. Queen Victoria will visit 23 ports of call in 17 countries. Cunard Line has introduced new more expensive prices for the speciality restaurants across its fleet of three ships, with the Verandah Restaurant seeing the biggest price increase.
On board the flagship, Queen Mary 2, the alternative evening dining option in the Kings Court buffet has been increased from $15.00 to $17.50 per person. The price for the alternative evening dining venues in the Lido Restaurant on both Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth has already been increased to $17.50. BBC Worldwide has officially announced a new global entertainment channel, BBC HD, which will be the first channel exclusively designed for cruise ship passengers.
The new channel will be offered to guests on P&O Cruises and Cunard Line ship, streaming in the cruise lines’ 115,000 cabins from this month. The channel will become available to the wider cruise industry at a later date. A woman is believed to have gone missing from Cunard Line’s Queen Mary 2. The ship departed New York yesterday heading for Philipsburg, St Maarten in the Caribbean.
The female passenger reportedly went missing this morning at around 08:00. The Queen Mary 2 immediately turned around retracing its route. Crew members have lined the decks looking for the woman. The Coast Guard has been alerted to assist with looking for the missing passenger. |
